Long Overdue! Def Leppard finally gets into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame!

Story, Video, and Interviews by Scotty J

The 2019 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame votes were cast, and at long last ROCK LEGENDS Def Leppard are in! While it’s great these iconic British Rockers will be enshrined in Cleveland forever, does it validate their legacy further? I’m not just talking about Def Leppard here. Are you kidding me! How many platinum records must a band generate? How many records must a band sell? How many classic hits must a band create? Def Leppard should have been in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame a LONG TIME AGO!

When some of the greatest Rock Bands of all time continuously get passed over for bands that aren’t even closely related to the the musical genre, can the hall even be taken seriously? This is not meant to take anything away from Def Leppard. They are personally one of my favorite bands of all time. Having met Rick Allen on multiple occasions, there is no musician more deserving for the highest acknowledgment. At least in 2019, Def Leppard enters the R&R HOF with other deserving artists. Stevie Nicks, The Zombies, and The Cure are some pretty solid co-inductees. But, does this overshadow how many deserving bands have been passed over through the years?

One might even be able to speculate that Def Leppard still wouldn’t have gotten into the HOF, had it not been for their extraordinarily successful 2018 World Tour! Getting to watch Def Leppard and Journey in person was something special. The arena was absolutely packed to capacity as has been every venue on the tour trail. And this is 2018! Def Leppard has been selling out every venue of ever tour they’ve been on for decades!

At the end of the day, we can all be grateful that a band like Def Leppard has received yet another musical honor. Being worthy of getting into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame seems to be an enigmatic task to say the least. In 2019 the hall finally got it right. Congratulations to legendary rockers Def Leppard for getting what they should have gotten many years ago.
