What has taken me so long? I’ve wanted to see Dropkick Murphys live for YEARS, and tonight in Raleigh, NC I got my chance! The energy! Oh my goodness this was exactly what I was anticipating! When listening to Dropkick Murphys, one can’t help but be put in a good mood. So, when you are singing along with a few thousand or so people, those fans quickly become your friends. Especially with the encouragement of the band to grab the people next to you to sway and sing along. Dropkicks set, with twenty-one songs spanning their twenty-three year career, left the audience well satisfied. I must say I absolutely can not wait for the guys to come around next time!

Dropkick Murphys – 11 Short Stories of Pain & Glory
The Lonesome Boatman – This song is not built for a small space. The ultimate crowd sing along. Love the tin flute.
Rebels with a Cause – For some reason I’m just picturing a car race. Powerful, loud, fun song. If this doesn’t become an all time fan favorite, people got issues.
Blood – Bag pipes and rock n roll. What could be cooler. Definitely has that anthem type feel. Once of those songs that would bring the deadest crowds to life in overwhelming fashion.

Sandlot – This song definitely teleports you to your youth. The lyrics tap into every adult making it impossible not to remember when we were young.
First Class Loser – How many Celtic instruments are used here? This song had me cracking up! Chances are everyone has known someone that fits the first class loser description. I’d almost have expected Denis Leary to guest sing on this.
Paying My Way – What a GREAT album! At this point I’m thinking this has got to be one of the best arena bands in the business today. Great lyrics, great incorporation of a wide variety of instruments. Harmonica is a cool added element.

I Had a Hat – I’d just love to see the guy jamming away on his accordion. It’s amazing to me to hear instruments you’d think had no place in Rock n Roll and Murphys just brings it!
Kicked to the Curb – Haha. The ultimate hard luck song. I’d like to know if this Sally actually exists.
You’ll Never Walk Alone – Just when you think you might get that ballady love song, Dropkick flips the switch. I imagine this is about as Kumbaya as they get.

4-15-2013 – Ok… maybe I was wrong. Almost like a “You’ll never walk alone” part 2. Great lyrics. Great message! We’re all just people trying to get along. Doesn’t matter who you are or where you come from. A wonderfully uniting and inclusive song.
Until The Next Time – What a great name for a song to conclude this incredible album. I truly enjoyed this album beginning to end and can’t wait for the next one! They could close out every show for the rest of their existence with this song.
