Photos and Interview by Out With Ambler
I was looking for a little “Tasty Nasty” “Summertime Treat” so I set out for Lynchburg, Virginia to see one of my favorite bands, Wilson! They guys, being on tour with Atreyu and Motionless In White, made a stop in the Hill City on their way to play at the inaugural Epicenter Festival in Rockingham, N.C. Even though they must have been exhausted from their run all over the country and up into Canada, you would never have known it by their performance. Wilson, in pure Wilson form, hit that stage like a bomb going off. High energy, fun loving rock and roll!!!
I have preached the gospel of Wilson for several years now and this local show made believers of this crowd.
Do NOT sleep on this band.
“Out With Ambler” interview with Wilson
Chad on being a support band…
“It’s a half-hour quick set. But everybody here comes early ya know? So it’s been a really great experience for us. I will say this. All of us are dogshit tired right now. The last six days have been like probably the craziest six days of a band.
As far as what’s been going on?…
Well we had confirmed welcome to Rockville and Epicenter before we confirmed the tour. So we didn’t obviously want to cancel the festivals because they’re always so much fun. So we said yeah we’ll take that. We’d love to do the tour but we just can’t do these two days and they’re like that’s fine. We looked at the routing which said that we were gonna be in Wichita Kansas Wednesday, and we’re gonna play and we had to play in Jacksonville Friday. So we leave the tour for a couple… or a show or two or whatever it is to go from Wichita Kansas, drive all the way to Jacksonville. Got there fest day. When the trailer closed at 9:30 we drove all the way back to Grand Rapids Michigan, 30 hours in a van and trailer, Wichita to Jacksonville. Then another 24 back to Grand Rapids. Then from Grand Rapids we had to go to London Ontario across the border, which is always a hassle. After that we had to come all the way back down to Lynchburg Virginia.
On Wilson’s most recent album…
We put out record out in August called ‘Tasty Nasty’. It is what we consider to be our finest work to date. It is a… I’m trying to use a cool editorial word here. It is a departure from parts of Wilson from the past in by leaving some of those pieces in the puzzle we added, but removing some other. It’s long story. It’s a new adventure for us, and we got it really truly I think.. like be ourselves for the first time you know? Like it’s one of those things where to know that somebody is to love somebody. Like you said. For us that’s always been the case. So we decided to come outside in our birthday suits and show the world our DNA. We’re really excited about it, and we’ve been touring non-stop with it. We have more plans after this.
