Story and Photos by Out With Ambler

February 22, 2019 The Lincoln Theater in Raleigh N.C. hosted a homecoming for Corrosion Of Conformity with some very special guests, and loyal fans packed the place to the rafters!
First to the party was one of my favorite live acts, Mothership. This power trio out of Dallas, Texas took fans on an intergalactic voyage of 1970’s meets 2019 hard rock and metal, tinged with bluesy Southern swagger.
Next, The Obsessed with thick, dread laden riffs that harken back to the days of such masters as Black Sabbath and Pentagram. This Maryland based band has a history going back to the 1970’s so trust me, they know how to do Doom Metal justice.
Crowbar’s Kirk and Tommy tell stories during last tour of 2018
New Orleans in the house! Crowbar hit this audience hard with “All I Had (I Gave)” from their self titled album. This heavy, eight song set included offerings from six of their ten studio albums and finished off with “Like Broken Glass”. Crowbar has always been a “no frills” band, proving their prowess with straight up in your face Sludge Metal. Tonight was no exception.
Corrosion of Conformity’s Mike Dean says Reed not returning
The Guest Of Honor has arrived! Corrosion Of Conformity was welcomed to the stage with resounding cheers from their devoted home town fans. A few songs in, right after “Wolf Named Crow”, Pepper Keenan tells the audience “What the hell, it’s Woodies choice tonight!”. “Born Again For The Last Time”, and “The Door” (by fan request) were added off the cuff to the crowds delight. We were then back on track with “Diablo Blvd”, “Vote With A Bullet” and many more C.O.C essentials. The band finished off with “Clean My Wounds” and left this grateful hometown crowd satisfied, yet hungry for more.
