Review & Errant thoughts by Scotty J

Check out the Interview with Nixon!

Framing Hanley has its first NEW album release, “Envy”, in 6 years! What are Rock Titan’s thoughts?

“Say You Ever” – This is an interesting first track at under 2 min. I have to admit, if you’re a fan then your curiosity is definitely peaked. It’s been a while since we heard new material from these guys.

“Bubbles” – Makes you wander if Nixon is eluding to the gap in time since their last full length album? There’s definitely a message of self-growth either way. Nixon sounds great. If you thought you were getting a sound similar to “Say You Ever”, you can lay those concerns to rest.

“Misery” – See the featured video of drums all the way through the song. It’s cool to see the isolation of percussion. Hearing the complete product, you get the Framing Hanley you’re used to.

“Jokes on Us” – Given the opportunity to speak with Nixon, I’d like to know more about the writing of this song. I think an official music video would be cool.

“Forgiveness is an Art” – If there were any reservations about Framing Hanley’s style after 6 years, you should be feeling pretty good right about now. This particular song should get a lot of air play.

“Puzzle Pieces” – As with “Forgiveness is an Art”, this is just a well produced record.

“Maeve” – I definitely dig the slower change of pace with this tune. The funkier, jazzy tempo is a nice midway point for “Envy”.

“Carousel” – After six years since the last album, I’m wondering whose personal experiences are poured into the lyrics? This may be one of the shorter songs on the album, but it’s a life message I’m sure many can relate to.

“The Way Down” – Throughout the album there’s a strong relationship theme. This is definitely a continuance of that.

“Throwing Knives” – How bout a slow dance song for today’s knew post millennial generation? Here you go.

“Counterfeit” – If there were one song that were destined for a young adult tv series or movie this would be it!

“Baggage Claim” – A nice conclusion to the very well done album by Framing Hanley. After 6 years these guys haven’t missed a beat. Nixon sounds as great as ever.

In conclusion Framing Hanley fans will be pleased. There’s honestly not a bad track or anything I’d consider space filler. If you’re going to have this much of a break between albums, you better do it right. They did.

Feel confident grabbing this entire album vs purchasing individual digital downloads. Definitely feel compelled to buy concert tickets to catch Framing Hanley on the tour trail.
